The Barred Flagtail (Kuhlia mugil) is common around the Indo-Pacific area but is not commonly found in the aquarium trade. They have metallic silver bodies with black and white stripes on their tails. This appearance is very similar to the popular freshwater fish, the Scissortail Rasbora, especially at very small sizes.
The Barred Flagtail is related to grunts and snappers. They feed on smaller crustaceans and fish and are typically found near the surface. In the aquarium, feed a varied meaty diet of mollusk and fishflesh. They typically do not eat corals or polyps but do not keep with shrimp, small crabs, small fish or similar potential prey items.
