Bolivian Ram – Mikrogeophagus altispinosus – Small

The Bolivian Ram (Mikrogeophagus altispinosus) is the more uncommon of the Rams but tends to be hardier than the other species. They have silver-gold bodies with bright red fin trim, a black stripe through the eyes, black at the front of the dorsal fin and in a patch on each side, and a golden yellow chest and throat area. Males develop more intense colors, especially when breeding, but females and juveniles have a very similar coloration as well.
