Guppy Grass – Najas guadalupensis

Guppy Grass is also known as Water Nymph or Najas Grass or simply by its scientific name, Najas guadalupensis. It is a bushy plant with thin spindly blades. It can either be rooted or left floating in the aquarium where it will send fine roots towards the substrate. This is a very fast-growing plant that may overtake an aquarium if left unchecked. It is also prone to falling apart if water and lighting conditions are poor or if harassed by fish or other animals in the tank.

Guppy Grass is good for tanks with small fish or inverts in need of hiding places. The pH should be around neutral with temperatures in the 70s. It will adapt to a wide range of lighting conditions but will be a brighter green color in higher lighting.

The Guppy Grass is sold in portions enclosed in a mesh bag. It should be removed from the bag upon arrival and, if desired, planted.
