Orange-spotted Shrimpgoby – Amblyeleotris guttata

The Orange-spotted Shrimpgoby has a white body with a pattern of orange spots. The chest of this little goby is maroon or dark brown. It is very similar to the Diamond Goby (Valenciennea puellaris) but has black pectoral fins while the Diamond Goby has white.

This fish is best known as part of the group of gobies known as shrimpgobies. They form symbiotic relationships with certain pistol shrimp. These shrimp build and maintain a burrow for them both to live in, and the goby defends the lair and supplies food.
