Yellowtail Tubelip Wrasse – Diproctacanthus xanthurus

The Yellowtail Tubelip Wrasse (Diproctacanthus xanthurus) is white with dark brown stripes from the nose to the tail. The tail is yellow on adults, but black on juveniles. They act as cleaners in nature, but should eat small meaty foods such as brine shrimp and plankton. These wrasses are not regularly imported for the aquarium trade.

Wrasses are generally hardy and easy to take care of. They prefer a tank with plenty of rock work to hide in and a sandy substrate. They should get along with other tank mates but can be aggressive toward other wrasses. They should accept frozen foods, and maybe eventually flake/pellet food. They may harm corals as they scavenge for food.
